is the "salt of the earth" the money given by Marcion to Roman Christians (and rejected by them)?

Discussion about the New Testament, apocrypha, gnostics, church fathers, Christian origins, historical Jesus or otherwise, etc.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

(Matthew 5:13)

If they rejected that money, the reason is because they found it as a "salt that loses its saltiness".

The Saltness is the formal respect for the Torah. The love for YHWH. Without it, no Roman catholicism.

So Couchoud:

In pictorial terms this is the need for the Church to expel members who had been excellent. Sometimes even the eye has to be torn out. Even good salt becomes bland and is without remedy. The important thing is to keep the peace.

"members who had been excellent" : Marcion from Sinope, despite of his money.

The thing is corroborated in the original latin of Mark:

habetis in uobis pacem, pacati estote in inuicem.

Pacem, not salem.
