The ultimate source seems to be
De Septuaginta interpretibus p 162 It seems to claim that an ancient Latin version of the TF lacked the phrase
if it is lawful to call him a man

Thanks for clearing that up. I had heard something like this claimed before and then saw some kind of debunking of it also, IIRC.
What you quoted is pretty good - it shows that the original claim apparently was that the TF lacked one phrase, not that it lacked all mention of Jesus.
