Isn't he the "son of Mary", a code-word for Mandeans?

Mark 6:3
Isn't he the carpenter, the son of Mary?

"Mary"/Miriam designed, in the Mandean writings, the sect of John the Baptist.

So Lidzbarski, Das Johannesbuch, p. 131-143).

So, Mark 6:3 would be saying:

Isn't he mere follower of John the Baptist?

the idea has been advanced the first time by Lidzbarski, a past scolar of mandeism.

The Mandeans hated YHWH. Just as Marcion did. You have to concede it and give up to your fool myth of Marcionites adorers of YHWH.

Whoa! Have you UNDERSTOOD what you're reading? Please cite me where it says that when Mary is mentioned in the gospel it refers to the cult of John the Baptist? Bet you no such reference exists.

the suggestion appears in a short note of Couchoud's book and the reference is made to Lidzbarski (Das Johannesbuch, p. 131-143) for "Miriam"==Mandean sect.

What I don't understand is your opposition a priori to consider any possible suggestion, when it deals with Mandeans et similia.

Maria est peut-être le même nom que Miriaï, par lequel les Mandéens désignent la secte de Jean-Baptiste (Das Johannesbuch, p. 131-143).

I've made that observation. Miriai comes from Mary. Your interpretation yout spin is completely nuts.

It is a fact that, at least in the Fourth Gospel, the presumed mother of Jesus is a parody of the Woman of Revelation.

So also in Mark the "Mary" could well work as a symbol of a rival sect.

Come on. You misquoted your source. Bye

So you deny that the Mandeans designed their sect as "Miriai" (="Mary"). Even when it is written so in their scriptures.
