Marcion seen by the Muslims

Post by Giuseppe »

Resuming now the discourse (around the pseudoprophets) we will say that the Persians kept faith in the religion of Magism introduced by Zoroaster, without schisms or dissensions, until the ascension of Jesus and the dispersion of his disciples in the various regions for the preaching of the Gospel. When these scattered through the countries, some ended up in Persia, and Bardesanes and Marcion were among those who accepted their appeal and heard the word of Jesus. They took something from it, and something else from what they had understood on the side of Zoroaster, and each of them from the two religions drew out a doctrine including the affirmation of the existence of the two principles.

Each put out a Gospel that they traced back to the Messiah, declaring everything out of that as false. Bardesanes claimed that the light of God had come to dwell in his heart. However, the gap did not exclude Bardesanes, Marcion and their followers from Christianity, nor are their gospels totally different from the Gospel of the Christians, but there are additions and omissions to this. God knows best (which side is the truth!).
