As Emeril says: "BOOM!"

Perhaps what we should do is call in an extraterrestrial peacekeeping force, who will put an end to looting altogether with especially brutal means - chop off the hands of looters, the tongues of authors of hateful speech, summary executions for trespassing or destroying or looting archeological sites, all without trial of course, because they are wiser and ultimately have our best interests at heart.

Historically, whenever a weak people call in more powerful people to "help" them, the helpers help themselves, and we'll eventually realize that the alien peacekeepers are siphoning off our water to power their space ship fusion engines, raping terrestrial women, raising the babies enough to slaughter them to harvest their hybrid organs, and sucking from the remains the left hand segments of our DNA spirals to make a kind of pastry popular on Regulus-7.*

DCH

* Research will ultimately show that right hand segments of DNA spirals are taboo to the aliens, because they wipe their butts with the right hand, and it is a truism that their poop smells like everyone else's. We will also discover that unscrupulous black market type aliens will make the pastry from the right hand segments, which they will sell to unwary and very pious peacekeeper aliens from the trunks of their anti-gravity runabouts.

All of this has been passed on to me telepathically by Aura Rhanes, the former captain of the 300 ft diameter spaceship Admiral Scow, from her place of retirement (with her two grandchildren), the peaceful and tranquil planet Clarion. As for that planet, there are no "prisons, lawyers, guards at banks, and child delinquency; no divorce or adultery; no illnesses or doctors, no traffic problems, and definitely no politicians." [as quoted from the accounts of Truman Bethurum, who heard it directly from in mouth of Rhanes in the late 1950s, in The Mammoth Encyclopedia of Extraterrestrial Encounters, by Ronald Story].

On the surface, the Clarionites would be prime candidates for the alien peace keepers we so desperately need. However, as Rhanes had told Bethurum, there are probably other extraterrestrials besides the Clarionites monitoring our missteps in the atomic age, and we ultimately will pick the wrong aliens. Besides, Clarionites prefer to lead by example, and will not interfere with another planet's development. Aura Rhanes and their planet Clarion, FWIW, are the real models for the fictional characters "Captain Janeway" and the "United Federation of Planets."

If Aura said it, then I believe it!

If it was good for Truman Bethurum
If it was good for Truman Bethurum
If it was good for Truman Bethurum
Then it's good enough for meeeeee! :whistling:

The dynamiting of the Buddhas of Bamiyan in 2001 by the Taliban was a harbinger of things to come.

If ISIS captures Egypt, I guess we can expect the pyramids, etc., to come under the wrecking ball.

But if your holy book tells you to destroy idols, what else can you do?

What if ISIS captures Egypt? maybe they won't... But if the book tells them to do so then it's really a big problem.
