yhwh murdered for the sins of people?

Post by theterminator »

who came up with the idea that the jewish god yhwh was murdered for the sins of people?
it is yhwh who has sacrifices done for him, not the other way round.

One verse that has this in some translations is Zech 12:10:

Here is a webpage discussing opposing views in translation of the phrase.
http://lhim.org/blog/2011/08/17/who-was ... iah-12-10/

One version says:
"They will look onto Me, whom they pierced".
Another version of translation goes:
"They will look unto those whom they pierced."
I looked into the verse years ago and concluded that actually version #1 was correct as a matter of grammar. But it was very strange to me, because, like you, I found the concept of God being pierced or hurt fatally by humans to be very strange.
