Hebrews (Spartans)

Post by Ethan »

1 Maccabees 12:20-21
"Arius, king of the Spartans, to Onias the high priest, greeting. 21 It has been found in writing concerning the Spartans and the Jews that they are brethren and are of the family of Abraham.

Ant.12:4:10
"Areus, King of the Lacedemonians, to Onias, sendeth greeting ... we have discovered that both the Jews and the Lacedemonians (Spartans) are of one stock, and are derived from the kindred of Abraham

Sparta

Spartans are references throughout the Book of Maccabees

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_H ... _of_Israel

Looking through this priest list, they are numerous Spartan names, including Alcimus, Menalaus and Jason, Another name is Simon, however the name was written Simonides, a Greek name.

Evidence

Aeschylus Agamemnon Verse 1035 ( 500 BCE )
"or even Alkmene’s son, men say, once endured to be sold and to eat the bread of slavery."
www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=A ... 99.01.0004

The name of this bread is μάζης ( Mazhs) and this is מַצָּה (Mazh) " Unleavened Bread" , the word is identical, μάζης > μζη (מַצָּה ), the word derives from μάσσω "knead" , another word is ἀζύμων, The other word is לֶחֶם (lechem) from λάγανα > λγν[לֶחֶם] ( Exo 29:23 - LXX) that i suspect is from Laconia hence ϝοἶκος Λακωνία [ בֵּית לֶחֶם] .

Exodus 2:5 mentions Maidens and Maid, the LXX words are ἅβραι [Abrai] and ἅβραν[Abran] " Greek slave names ".

The word Hebrew first appears in Gen 14:13, but the LXX word is 'περάτῃ ' is suspiciously similar too the περίοικοι , an autonomous group of free but non-citizen inhabitants of Sparta, Concentrated in the coastal and highland areas of Laconia and Messenia

The only information regarding the back-story of Abram , he came from Ur-Chaldee, examining the LXX word here, "χώρᾳ Χαλδαίων " and i believe Χαλδαίων is Argolidas [Ur-chaldee], a genitive form of Argos or Ἀρκάς also written Ἀρκαδία [Αρχαδ ] > Αρφαξαδ 'Arphaxad' .

Only Greek can explain the different spelling between Aur-Kasad , Ur-Chaldee, Arphaxad and Arcad.

Obadiah 1:20 [ direct reference]
And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Therapnes; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sparta, shall possess the cities of the south

Joel 3:6
The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.

Gen 35:11 - God said unto him, I am Zdeus (spartan zeus)

Clues
  • Hebrews were ἁβροί and ἠπειρῶται [ Greek emmigrants]
  • Middle east was overrun, colonized and controlled by Greeks
  • Hebrews worshiped Greek gods
  • The Hellenic affinity of the Phoenicians is long and forgotten and the identity of the Greek with the Phoenician alphabet was a matter of borrowing.
  • Jewish, Christian and Islamic cultures all originate in Hellenism.
  • Josephus wrote his works in Greek
  • The apostles introduced the Messianic creed in Greek

Josephus, in Book 1 of his Antiquities, wrote;
“Cleodemus the prophet, who was also called Malchus, who wrote a History of the Jews, in agreement with the History of Moses, their legislator, relates, that there were many sons born to Abraham by Keturah: nay, he names three of them, Apher, and Surim, and Japhran. That from Surim was the land of Assyria denominated; and that from the other two, Apher and Japbran, the country of Africa took its name, because these men were auxiliaries to Hercules, when he fought against Libya and Antaeus; and that Hercules married Aphra’s [viz.Apher's] daughter, and of her he begat a son, Diodorus; and that Sophon was his son, from whom that barbarous people called Sophacians were denominated.”

Here it is said that Hercules (the ancestor of the Spartan kings) married a grand daughter of Abraham.

I expect other 'historians' found ways to combine the genealogies in the Bible with those of the Greek gods and heroes and made links between different peoples. There is a link between the Kings of Israel and Judah through Jezebel, and the House of Carthage through Dido (the lover of Aeneas), both Queens being descended from Ethbaal, King of Tyre, which according to Greek myth made them descendants of Phoenix, the son of Agenor, the son of Poseidon. I wonder if that makes Jesus a kin to Hannibal?
