It's mainly the Digamma that sets the languages apart.

צאלים = ξύλον "Tree" ( Shadow cast by a large tree). Job 40:21
צלע
1. Plank of Wood
2. Rib (Gen 2:22)
ξυλόω > ξλό > צלע "turn into wood"
ξύλου > ξλυ > ξλβ > צלמ < צלב "Image"
צלב "Cross"
https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/צלב
Acts 5:30 - κρεμάσαντες (כרמ שית) ἐπὶ (אל) ξύλου (צלב )
This is how the Hebrew word for Wing is so-named from κνέφας(Knephas) > כנף (Kneph) "Wing" that was originally perceived as a shadow from a large bird. This is proven with the Lexicon entry of כָּנַף (H3670 ) " Hidden from View".

Re: Hebrew
I'll add to Ethan's Greek-Hebrew comparison:
Father - Πάτερ - אב
our - ἡμῶν - נו
the - ὁ - ה
in - ἐν - ב
the - τοῖς - את
heavens - οὐρανοῖς - שמים
Thus, by Ethan's arguments, English is closely related to Greek and Hebrew. But it's rather glaringly evident that most of the Greek and Hebrew words that he listed do not resemble each other very much. In fact, in this small sample, Greek resembles English more than Hebrew: pater - father, en - in.
Re: Hebrew
It ought to be evident from my lists that one can easily recognize Germanic, Romance, Slavic, Turkic, and Polynesian families. The resemblance is as much as Hebrew's resemblance to Aramaic and Arabic. I'll quote "Our Father" in full and interleave them:
Avinu shebashamayim, yitkadesh shimkha,
Avvon d-bish-maiya, nith-qaddash shim-mukh.

wa-lā tu-dkhil-nā fī ta-jribat-in, lakin najji-nā mina ash-shirrīr-i,
This is Hebrew, Aramaic, and Arabic -- there were several Aramaic transcriptions, so I chose one of them, a different one from before.
Hebrew is rather recognizably related to Aramaic and Arabic -- it is not recognizably related to Greek, however.

Re: Hebrew
Stupid argument. Very very stupid argument. Jews have long used names that came from the people around them, and those ones were early ones. There are numerous recent Jews with much names, Jews like Albert Einstein, with his very Teutonic name.Ethan wrote: ↑Sat May 26, 2018 11:54 pm They were several Spartans serving as priests in Israel

Phoenicians were more dominant in the West then they were in the East, however theologians claim the Hebrew Language for themselves, they believe the Language appeared in the middle of the desert to compose the Torah. The oldest city in Western Europe is Cadiz, founded by Phoenicians in 1104 BCE. Way before Hebrews , Jews and Israel came into existence.
This is a typical map of the David's Empire, have you noticed that the major Capital and Port , TYRE
was not given too Jews, What kind of Empire as it's major ports ruled by someone else?
1 Kings 10:22
For the king had at sea a navy of Tharshish(Carthage) with the navy of Hiram: once in three years came the navy of Tharshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
1 Kings 10:11
And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones.
2 Samuel 5:11
And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.
