Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani (2Ki 2:12)

Post by Ethan »

The quotation in Mark 15:34 is apparently from Psalm 22 but they are not an exact match
and according to 15:35, He was crying too Elijah.

I search through the Septuagint for ἐγκατέλιπές, I found two in Malachi, they very first
book Mark quotes from, in Malachi 2:16. תבגד (TBGD) is rendered ἐγκαταλίπητε
and Malachi 2:15 , בגד (BGD) > ἐγκαταλίπῃς .

תבגד > σβχθ > σαβαχθ
תבגד ני > σαβαχθανι

2Ki 2:12 ( Elisha crying to Elijah )
And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father
* אבי אבי : אלי אלי ( Abi & Ali interchange in the OT)

He saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes,
ראהו עוד ויחזק בבגד
εἶδεν αὐτὸν ἔτι καὶ ἐπελάβετο τῶν ἱματίων
* בגד (BDG) is the same word in Malachi 2:16 rendered ἐγκαταλίπητε

Mark 15:34 is paraphrasing 2 Kings 2:21

I also analyzed ἐγκαταλίπητε , the prefix is ἔγκατα(טחות) meaning Inwards
but also bowels and λίπητε means Leave and Radiant.

ἔγκατα
- ἐκδέρω (Ekdera) "strip off the skin from"
- אדרת ( Addereth )

Plato Euthyd. 285d
Then Ctesippus said: I too, Socrates, am ready to offer myself to be skinned by the strangers even more, if they choose, than they are doing now, if my hide is not to end by being made into a wine-skin (Askon) , like that of Marsyas, but into the shape of virtue.

* Wine-skin was made of goat-skin and lined with goat bladders.
* Why have you disemboweled me

לבש (Labash) "wear" , לבוש (Lebuwsh ), καλυπτός/κάλυψις ( Kaluptos) "covering", βυσσός (Bussos) "Linen, Flax" Shesh (שש), Bad (בד), Pishta (פשת).

ב interchanges with נ , מ thus לבש becomes לנש (Λίνος) hence λίνον (Linen) and also ληνός (Lhnos)
meaning "Wool" and "Wine press"

Isaiah 63:2
Why is your apparel red and your garments like his who treads in the winepress
διὰ τί σου ἐρυθρὰ τὰ ἱμάτια καὶ τὰ ἐνδύματά σου ὡς ἀπὸ πατητοῦ ληνοῦ
מדוע אדם ללבושך ובגדיך כדרך בגת

Marsyas - The original Martyr

Apollodorus, Bibliothekei.4.2
He was flayed alive in a cave near Celaenae for his hubris to challenge a god. Apollo then nailed Marsyas' skin to a pine tree, near Lake Aulocrene (the Turkish Karakuyu Gölü), which Strabo noted was full of the reeds from which the pipes were fashioned.

Herodotus 7.26
The skin of Marsyas the Silenus also hangs there; the Phrygian story tells that it was flayed off him and hung up by Apollo

* flayed and crucified 1st century Martyrs

Osiris, after being locked up in a coffin, is thrown into the Nile, and after coming to shore, is lodged in a tree which (due to his power over vegetation) grows rapidly and eventually encases the coffin and Osiris.

The Pyramid Texts, Utt. 574, recounts this in passing, while a ritual hymn from Denderah states that the body of Osiris--in effigy--should hang "in the tree of heaven" for nine days. I'm assuming it's referring to a Sycamore tree). Depictions as far back as the Middle Kingdom show the fetish of Osiris, a box containing his burnt remains, being placed onto a tree.

Dionysus, during the festival of Lenaia, is shown on numerous stamoi vases from the 6-4th centuries bc as being placed on to a cross-shaped trellis. His worshippers, the Maenads, gather around this pillar/tree, which stands behind a table with loaves of bread, slabs of meat, and jars of wine.

In his Georgics, Virgil writes that masks of Bacchus were hung on pine trees.

Attis, after dying, underwent a metamorphosis into a pine tree, which Ovid recounts in his Metamorphoses. Small figurines show Attis bound to the trunk of a pine tree.

Mithras is shown being born from a tree, and being in a tree with his patrons Cautes and Cautopates flanking him. The bull that Mithras kills, is beheaded, and has it's head placed onto a tree.

Odin gained knowledge of the runes by hanging himself from the branches of the Yggdrasil tree.

Osiris, Dionysus and Bacchus hold the same staff.

Attis and Bacchus are identified with each other in Strabo.
And for frequently joining the band of Bacchanalians in celebrating their festivals, and shouting, Evoi, Saboi, Hyes Attes, and Attes Hyes, for these cries belong to the rites of Sabazius and the Great Mother. Strab. 10.3
Osiris and Adonis are identified with each other in Apheca , Lebanon, Here the Water into Wine/Blood.
Ares sent a vicious boar to kill Adonis.[6] At the pool at the foot of the falls of Afqa, Adonis bled to death from a deep wound in the groin, Each spring at Afqa, the melting snows flood the river, bringing a reddish mud into the stream from the steep mountain slopes.[6] The red stain can be seen feeding into the river and far out to the Mediterranean Sea.[6] Legend held this to be the blood of Adonis, renewed each year, at the time of his death

Afqa is aligned centrally between Baalbek and Byblos, pointing to the summer solstice sunset over the Mediterranean. It is from Byblos that the myth was told of a mystical ark that came ashore containing the bones of Osiris.
Adonis, Adonai and Odin root from ὀδύναι "Pain of body" (feminine) relate with the Hebrew word for Fig ( ta'anah)
which also means Oestrous or time of heat (feminine heat). This is similar too the word 'Bless', same
root as 'Blood (menses), this is why God roots from Gaia, earth-goddess.

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to the people of Israel, and get from them staffs, one for each fathers' house, from all their chiefs according to their fathers' houses, twelve staffs. Write each man's name on his staff, and write Aaron's name on the staff of Levi. For there shall be one staff for the head of each fathers' house. Then you shall deposit them in the tent of meeting before the testimony, where I meet with you. And the staff of the man whom I choose shall sprout.

On the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony, and behold, the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and it bore ripe almonds.

Num 17:8
rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.

Dionysus tied Agdistis's foot to his own male genitalia (φαλλός) with a strong rope. When Agdistis awoke and stood, Agdistis ripped his penis off, castrating himself, The blood from his severed genitals fertilized the earth, and from that spot grew an almond tree. Once when Nana, daughter of the river-god Sangarius, was gathering the fruit of this tree, she put some almonds into her bosom but here the almonds disappeared and she became pregnant with Attis. In some versions, Attis was born directly out of the almond.
