5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy mind, and with all thy soul, and all thy strength
Can the greek word for "strength" in septuangint refer to military might?
muslim apologist ijaz ahmed made the argument that "might" "refers to military warfare" (time line 42:47)
Deut 6:5
Re: Deut 6:5
The Hebrew מאדך is μέγας σού "thy might" and LXX as δύναμις σου.
δύναμις;
power, might, strength, Hom.: then, generally, strength, power, ability to do a thing, a force for war, forces
δύναμις;
power, might, strength, Hom.: then, generally, strength, power, ability to do a thing, a force for war, forces
Re: Deut 6:5
Is there an explanation for why the LXX would have δύναμις [σου] instead of μέγας [σού] ?
- (to give a force or even a military dimension?)
- big, large
- great, mighty, loud
- marvelous, awesome
