It is hard to argue with her first premise which I like to state as
The Talmud is always wrong.
However, the idea that the U&T was actually reliable and existed from the time of Moses is outrageous. Maybe it makes sense as some kind of invention from Chaldea or Greece which had some kind of propaganda value for the Hasmoneans. The sages hated the Hasmoneans, of course.

PS. I asked Dr. Fried about her unofficial opinion on the origin of this and she replied:
I think the UT go back to the Persian period at least and at least the high priesthood of Yohanan. There may have been something in the first temple period too, but they seem to have been different, dice or something.
