How Do We Know Which Gospel Clement is Citing?

Quick question.

1. In QDS Clement cites a Markan text with many 'Matthean readings.'
2. The Matthean Mark readings are listed in various resources as Clement citing Matthew 19 whatever.
3. a. If the Alexandrian Western text of Mark that Clement was using had 'Matthean' and 'Lukan readings'
and b. Clement almost never identifies the text he's citing from
c. How do we know that some of Clement's 'Matthew' readings come from his text of Mark?
“Finally, from so little sleeping and so much reading, his brain dried up and he went completely out of his mind.”
― Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote
