And just for clarification. You think there are three. I remember reading in Carlson he said two. Does he think there are 3? Smith thought there was only ku. Tselikas says four kou or implies it I think. Just want to make sure that you agree with me in that there are 3 kou and 1 ku.

Do we agree
line 16 = kou
Line 24 ku
and then two kou on line 46
line 16 = kou
Line 24 ku
and then two kou on line 46

BTW I speak rudimentary swahili kuku is the swahili word for chicken. Now sure how that figures into things.

I will also thank you, Goranson and a few others in the paper I am completing. Peter Kirby too. Wouldn't have gotten off the ground without massive amounts of boredom on my part and this site.

I think you are right the one in line 24 is certainly different from the others without a clear omicron but this is outside my expertise. I was following your statement earlier in the thread.

Roger Viklund will get a very big thank you in my final paper:
So Smith saw all the references as kou but one is clearly not kou. How does that fit into his master forgery plan? I think that this cements he wasn't the forger once and for all.Actually, in the note to line 16 on the transcription of the letter on page 448, he writes: “16 κυρίου: MS κου, so again in 24 and II.18 (bis)”. Accordingly he acknowledges all four as κου, in 1:16, 1:24 and twice in 2:18 (i.e. line 46). Yet, 1:24 is κυ.

If someone made a mistake then therefore it can't be Morton Smith??

Morton Smith to me, among his handwritten notes on a draft paper of mine (I don't have it in hand at the moment, so I paraphrase): take a course in logic.
