About a tomb cut out of PETER

Post by Giuseppe »

Mark 15:46 :
Then Joseph bought some linen cloth. He took down the body and wrapped it in the linen. He put it in a tomb cut out of rock (ἐκ πέτρας). Then he rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb.
Is the 'rock' an allusion to Simon Peter (Πετρος) ?

If the answer is yes, then the allegorical meaning would be that the Word (Jesus) is buried ''in'' Peter (the rock) and the disciples but even so the Word disappears from there (the empty tomb) and rises in Galilee of gentiles, where Peter is unable to arrive since the women don't tell nothing about what they have seen and listened.

But the silence of the women may be interpreted in this way, too:

they dont' say that the tomb cut “out of rock” (out of 'Peter') is empty, therefore, by their silence, they are false witnesses and false disciples. Jesus has abandoned DE FACTO Peter both materially and spiritually and the fact is not declared openly by the women.

Hence who proclaims that Peter is an apostle at the time of 'Mark' is a liar and a heretic Christian.

Jesus had predicted that he would abandon Peter the same precise time when he would be risen!
Some seed fell on rocky places, where there wasn’t much soil. The plants came up quickly, because the soil wasn’t deep. When the sun came up, it burned the plants. They dried up because they had no roots.
(Mark 4:5-6)

''When the sun came up'' refers to the same resurrection of Christ from the ''tomb cut out the rock'' (=Simon Peter).

There is a correspondence:

Some seed fell on rocky places, where there wasn’t much soil.Jesus is buried in a tomb cut out the rock. Peter becomes disciple of Jesus.
The plants came up quickly, because the soil wasn’t deep.Jesus remains in the tomb. Peter first follows Jesus with joy.
When the sun came up,Jesus rises at third day.
it burned the plants. They dried up because they had no roots.the tomb ''cut out the rock'' is empty. Peter abandons Jesus. Peter doesn't know where is Jesus because he is not informed by women about his presence in Galilee of gentiles. Peter is lost forever.

I may do better the table: ;)

Some seed fell on rocky places, where there wasn’t much soil. Peter becomes disciple of Jesus. Jesus is buried in a tomb cut out the rock.
The plants came up quickly, because the soil wasn’t deep. Peter first follows Jesus with joy. The body of Jesus remains in the tomb.
When the sun came up, When Jesus came up on the cross, Peter has already abandoned him. Jesus rises at third day.
it burned the plants. They dried up because they had no roots. Even if repented, Peter is abandoned by Jesus. the tomb ''cut out the rock'' is empty. Peter doesn't know where is Jesus because he is not informed by women about his presence in Galilee of gentiles. Peter is lost forever.

In this way it is explained why the Sun coming up (in the Parable of Sower), at the song of the roaster (at denial of Peter), is enemy of Peter and condemns him to absence of Jesus (''the empty tomb cut out the rock'').

or the stone?

I have thought about it but doesn't work: the stone (λίθος) cannot be an allusion to Peter (Πετρος), differently from ἐκ πέτρας .
