IF a pre-Christian cult of Joshua existed, I am inclined more to think it as a pre-Israelite cult of a god who was subjugated to YHWH via euhemerization (read: the biblical stories of Joshua) and not as a personification of an attribute of YHWH.

Thank you. May I ask then where the theorizing for Joshua's blood sacrifice comes from? Is it purely from NT extrapolation?

I think that we find it before in the Revelation of John.

But iF you assume that the biblical story of the five kings crucified by Joshua was the euhemerization of a previous myth where the five kings were the killers of the god Joshua, then the idea of the Joshua's blood sacrifice was found already there.
