Discussion about the New Testament, apocrypha, gnostics, church fathers, Christian origins, historical Jesus or otherwise, etc.
It has been my opinion for years now the War started the Markan text as it changed the way the early followers exchanged the good news, they needed to preserve important traditions as well as combat perceived heretical text, all while building divinity and authority in a quickly evolving movement.MrMacSon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 12:18 pm
I think it's highly feasible that the First Jewish-Roman War is what prompted the writing (and other writings), but plenty of others have noted aspects of Josephus accounts in the NT texts to the extent that they are unlikely to have come from the same sources that Josephus used: it seems likely that they had to have come from Josephus, including Antiquities, which is post 90-95 AD/CE. (I also wonder about possible influence of the 2nd War.)
I find no connection to markan text from Josephus, and any possibly shared traditions would from common knowledge/sources.
Luke I throw in the towel and hold your opinion, less im 50/50 and who relied on whom.
