About Golgotha

Post by Giuseppe »

‘place of the skull’ = Golgotha.
If at the end he tells us Jesus went to a hill called ‘place of the skull’ (Mk. 15:22), it may be because Paul ultimately went to the Roman hill called Capitoline (from the Latin word for ‘head.’)

If Jesus in Mark is symbol of Israel of 70, then the ''crucifixion'' en masse of Israel would coincide with the same his deportation en masse to Rome.

This would increase the likelihood that ''Simon of Cyrene'' was an allusion to Jews of the diaspora led as captives to Rome, too.
