Re: Is the Wonderous Tall Man in Acts of Perpetua and Felicitas "Jesus"?
IMO these accounts are authentic dream records which makes their true meaning problematic. However it seems clear that, in the text as we have it, they are understood as visions of Jesus Christ for whom Perpetua is about to heroically die. Am reminded a bit of the Gospel of Peter, where two tall an...

Re: Catering to the Diaspora Within Caesarea Maritima Greek Prayer and Rabbinic Judaism
I would think that the food would be cold by the time it was delivered to the Diaspora. Alas, catering was a different business then.

Re: Paul only / Damascus chronology
gryan, The main point of my ... er ... point, was that the parallels are a lot shakier than they might first appear, if we look at the actual parallels. I would ask, *What is an "Ethnarch?" Was it used other than to describe Archelaeus? *I'd ask what the connection was between king Aretas ...

Re: Paul only / Damascus chronology
This was how I worked out the parallels in 2/28/2021. Historical info of Paul found in his Epistles (All citations are RSV, some slightly modified) [/b] Parallels to Acts RSV [/b] GAL 1:13 For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to dest...

Re: historian of early Christianity
An interesting book to add to everyone's reading list is The History of the Synoptic Problem by David Laird Dungan (1999). It is a bit lengthy, but interesting to see how a conservative employs Deconstructionist methodology. Per the publisher's web site, this book "is an accessible, academic st...

You know that a lot of that was gibberish. The OCR software was unable to read the Greek, which is the norm it seems.

Re: The Celestial Messiah in the parables of Enoch
I once (2013, updated 2017) summarized the sources as follows: 175, Sep 1 Macc. 1:10 & 2 Macc. 4:7 Antiochus IV Epiphanes succeeds Seleucus IV Philopator. 175 2 Macc. 4:7 Jason outbids High Priesthood from Antiochus and succeeds his brother Onias III. 175-172 2 Macc. 4:10ff. Jason begins Helleni...

Re: Paul's Letters, Taken at Face Value, Reveal that He was not a Typical Early Christian!
Paul's Letters, Taken at Face Value, Reveal that He was not a Typical Early Christian! Rather, he was constantly trying to assert, against other Christian believers and leaders, that his Christianity was the true Christianity. Why did it take me so long to realize this? Thinking about this: ...

mbuckley3,
Nice post!
I had contributed a more crude version in the past (2017):

But it is all in unicode Greek with English translations.
Enjoy.
