Re: Yes or No to Pre-Markan Passion Narrative
My opinion is that before Mark 'there existed no written Passion Narrative, and Mark drew upon little more than Paul, the Septuagint, and his own wits.' The epistle of Barnabas shows the development stage of the Passion narrative before Mark: "He was wounded for our transgressions, and braised...

Re: Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus.
Just an idea. Rom 16:13 Greet Rufus, the chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine . Mark 15:21 A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus , was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross. If Paul and Rufus had the same mother (if we ...

Re: Finding Jesus (= אישו) at the Beginning of Genesis
“She shall be called Woman / lsha, for from Man / Ish she was taken.” But she was not taken from man, from iysh, since iysh (“man”) did not in fact exist as yet in our text. She was taken from ha'adam, the human, with male and female sides. Now you have discovered in the Jewish tradition what exist...

Re: my Testimonium article
From your article: Maurice Goguel offers a similar explanation for what would be silence of Josephus: "So complete a silence is perhaps more embarrassing for the mythologists than for their opponents. By what right, indeed, should it be permissible to conclude from it that Jesus never existed, ...

Re: Mysteries I Am Too Stupid to Solve: Cerinthus & Corinthi
Are you calling the author of Acts 9:25 a liar? Acts is a secondary source. If one thinks about it, the ἐν before the word means "in." Are you suggesting Paul was wound up in a rope, and not in a basket made of rope? No. Why? I only said that Paul escaped in a basket made of a plaited rop...

Re: Mysteries I Am Too Stupid to Solve: Cerinthus & Corinthi
Actually, None of the accounts of Paul's escape says by what means he and his basket (σπυρίς) were lowered down (both the verbs καθῆκαν and χαλάσαντες) the wall (τοῦ τείχους). No rope is mentioned, much less whether it was plaited or not. It could have been by means of a bed sheet for all we know. ...

Re: Mysteries I Am Too Stupid to Solve: Cerinthus & Corinthi
Maybe I have gone too far, but ... Paul says for himself that he was an aborted baby (1 Cor 15:8 - ektroma). The latin word funiculus, which is of the same meaning as merinthos in Greek, commonly refers to the umbilical cord attaching a fetus to the placenta during pregnancy. One of the abortion met...

Re: Mysteries I Am Too Stupid to Solve: Cerinthus & Corinthi
Merinthus is from Greek μήρινθος - cord, rope.
That recalls Paul's escape from Damascus in a basket made of a plaited rope.
