Perhaps YHWH/Jesus was understood by the writer of the Pauline letters as a subordinate deity, akin to YHWH's role in Gnosticism.

You have yet to cite a mythicist ignoring archaeological evidence.

Re: The Samaritans

Here is a list of 50 real people of the Bible that archaeology confirmed. Of course to the mythicists they are either interpolations or the Bible lied about their role regarding Canaan and Samaria. https://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/daily/people-cultures-in-the-bible/people-in-the-bible/50-people-...

Re: The Samaritans

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. You can lead a mythicist to facts but you can't make them think. John T is done with this thread. Before you go, can you tell me who this is addressed to and why? I don't know what to make of it. The archeological evidence is fai...

Re: James the brother of Jesus who is called Christ in Josephus

Does anyone else wonder about these "equitable" citizens who got all worked up over the injustice done to James? Ananus was not someone to be trifled with. Who would really have challenged him for the sake of the peasant brother of a failed messiah? That has always made me lean toward int...

Re: James the brother of Jesus who is called Christ in Josephus

You are right. I have never heard of anyone claim that James the Just the brother of Jesus was Christ. Is that how you read it in Greek or from a mythicist forum? "and brought before them the brother of Jesus, whose name was James, and some others;" Now it reads as it should. You've never...

Re: What if Enoch pre-dates the Torah?

I think, therefore I'm mistaken. I think that I understand, therefore I understand nothing. Is that how it works in the world of Buddha mythicists? While I'm at it, didn't Alexander the Great conquer the territory of Buddha? If so then, isn't everything about Buddha actually a spin-off of Plato Tim...

Re: What if Enoch pre-dates the Torah?

As mentioned before, it is possible that someone else posting or reading here is Buddhist. We two can agree that you do not speak for all Buddhists. PS I previously began a thread on Translation, saying, more or less, that no translation is above question. By that, I did not mean that some translat...

Re: What if Enoch pre-dates the Torah?

Some Buddhists, apparently, consider the Panchen Lama an incarnation of Amitabha Buddha. That is true, but I, as a non-Mahayana Buddhist, hold Amitabha Buddha to be foreign and mythical because he is not mentioned in the Pali Tipitaka which is my scripture; furthermore, that is why I specified &quo...
