Re: Proofs that John the Baptist Existed

It does not matter whether it was actually interpreted messianically. All it matters is that it could give a Christian missionary the foggy idea that it could be read or misread at some point in such a manner, so they would at least try use it in order to persuade Jews or Godfearers. Whether teh att...

Re: If John the Baptist never existed then the Markan incipit is a nonsense

Re: So, did Marcion just make everything?

It is simple and straightforward that the Catholic versions are of a late redaction. Already W van Manen, over 100 years ago, realized the relative priority of the Marcionite version. But the Marcionite versions are reactions to other things that occurred before, and so on. Nothing is made up, only ...

Re: So, did Marcion just make everything?

Marcion did not make up everything, as the term `Christ` is the work of Judaizers, and Marcion is embarrassed by it and needs to explain it away. Re: What are the psychological reasons for Markan prioritism

The imbecillitas pecorum, which characterizes Markan Priorists and believers in pre-Flavian Judaic origins of Christianity, is not a psychological illness but the deprecable general condition of mankind.

Re: What are the psychological reasons for Markan prioritism

Most of them are chiasmolators, unable to see that those Markan Sandwiches are just interpolations. The anabatic method of Jean Magne can help to discern these interpolations, but naive Ockhamists are too inert to see that.

Re: John the Baptist Passage interpolated in Josephus

Markan Prioritism is always apologist propaganda, as John has been originally invented as a Judaization of the hermetic herald of Baptism, assimilated to the biblical Eliyah, whose return is expected in the Old Testament. Only Jean Magne was able to figure the logical history of what became Christia...
