Re: Possible textual evidence that Mark came after Matthew?

I don't think that the fact that Mark specifies that this is a fulfillment of the Scriptures is enough to make this verse a late interpolation to follow Matthew's model. On the contrary, one could say that it was Mark's verse that inspired Matthew to add more throughout his text With Mark what is l...

Re: Possible textual evidence that Mark came after Matthew?

If Mark were retouched that much, im wondering why Joseph is completely absent from the story. Yeah, I think that's the difficulty, is trying to understand or explain the entire editorial framework. Why would an editor do X but not Y? And this issue has caused many people to assume that because a s...

Re: Possible textual evidence that Mark came after Matthew?

How can Jesus be the Son of God if he had a biological father ? That’s Mark theology so Jesus is literally the Son of God in Mark.

Matthew, who is a little less subtle, seeks to meet Jewish expectations by including a father in the story. Yes, Jesus had a biological father of Davidic descent.

Re: Gospel priority

I favor the Farrer theory, that Luke used Matthew (as Farrer, Goulder, and Goodacre). Given that the Farrer theory proposes the Lucan writers had a copy of Mt, Ken, why would they have used Mk at all, when Mt had double the content and in better Greek? Would you propose something like, "well, ...

Re: Gospel priority

I had lunch with Mark Goodacre yesterday and we talked about John and the synoptics, which is what he is currently working on. I’m been waiting for this book for more than 4 years now. It was planned to be released in 2021 :D I liked his article : John's Use of Matthean/Lukan Redaction of Mark – Ma...
