Re: The fate of the Pharisees

DCHindley gave excellent sources. To add a small comment, rabbinic literature (at least portions of it) appears to agree that Pharisees were lest strict in legal interpretations than Sadducees (for instance in their comparison of Hillel and Shammai, taken, more or less, historically or not linked o...

Re: Maximinus Daia's Acts of Pilate

Could it be that Pilate was sent in 18 CE as praefectus, so not as procurator-prefect (that was Valerius Gratus then), by Sejanus Praefect of the Roman Praetorian Guard to sort things out militarily and with knowledge of military engineering (aqueduct-building) and to act as prefect to Gratus to rel...

Re: Peter in Rome and Eusebius

What strikes me is that all the persons Elymas/Etoimus/Atomus/Magus/Saul can have a connection with the great Philosophy school of Tarsus. With a lot of attention for the Stoic School and the Jewish Philosophy. Synchretic philosophy? Tarsus is less than 1 day boat trip from Cyprus... Josephus mentio...

Re: James ben Damneus ??

Changing one(!) letter in Chrestian sacred texts to adjust the context, appears to have happened more than once.
