Re: γυμνὸς or γυμνοὶ in Clement's Letter to Theodore?
For the purpose of apples-to-apples comparison, I have sent you a Google drive link with the (circa 300MB each) bitmap files of all three pages. I have additionally sent the same invitation link to Ken Olson, Andrew Criddle, and Adam Kvanta. Thanks, much appreciated! Tselikas performed a detailed s...

Re: Who's death Jos. blamed for city's destruction
There is a relation to the NT: Matthew 23:35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias , whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Interesting post. Btw, I saw this on Wikipedia : The Gospel...

Re: Comments on Handwriting Analysis and the Mar Saba Letter
I may be misunderstanding Tselikas but IIUC although in the word τοῦ the omicron and the upsilon are written as ligature and apparently continuous with the circumflex, the stroke is done in the wrong direction. Right to left not left to right. (This is how I understand the passage from Tselikas ῦ w...

Re: 1715 Clement edition
Though he knew of the movement of many materials to Jerusalem. Thanks for correcting me, I was presuming wrongly. There was indeed a transfer of manuscripts from Mar Saba to Jerusalem in 1865. Morton Smith wrote: The manuscripts of Mar Saba proved, on examination, to be mostly modern. This was no s...

Re: 1715 Clement edition
I want to address one more ambiguous text from A.T.'s report. It is connected to the question of whether in 1887 the Clement edition was sent from Jerusalem to Mar Saba or from Mar Saba to Jerusalem: It is worth noting that all the manuscripts of the monastery , except for a few modern and historica...

Re: are these supposed to be sound arguments?
As for "Manufactured in the United States" which he wrote in handwriting on his copy of the text, that is, in context, an unusual choice, because it was not a mechanically printed book. What if Morton Smith intended to mechanically print this text later and this was just a draft? Another ...

Re: Comments on Handwriting Analysis and the Mar Saba Letter
IIUC we are not only dealing with isolated unusual letter formations scattered through the letter. There seem to be consistent usages. For example the omicron upsilon with circumflex word ending occurs around 30 times in the letter. It looks to be normal cursive at first glance but it seems to be c...

Re: are these supposed to be sound arguments?
Morton Smith hand-wrote "Manuscript Material from the Monastery of Mar Saba, discovered, transcribed and translated by Morton Smith," dated 1958. It includes a Preface. On a preliminary page he wrote "Manufactured in the United States." This may bean example of his type of humor...
