Re: "Immar-Yah" => " 'Immr-i-El? => "Immanuel"?

lsayre -- I'm starting work on that one. The one reference to Immanuel/Emmanuel in the NT is in Matthew, Chapter 1. Matthew 1 is, as I say from time to time, radioactive. I have the genealogy as coming from - that name again - Nicholas of Damascus: Josephus, Ant... , 14, 1, 3: "But there was a ...

Re: "Immar----El"?

There is another possibility for the "Animal Name Paired with the God Name". The "--iel" ending for Canaanite "El". "Daniel", "Nathaniel" and so on. This ending would give "Immar-El" , which would eventually give "Mariel" and deri...

Re: "Immar-Yah" => " 'Immr-ya" => "Marya"

What is the 'human' name of your proposed 'Jesus'? Wow, that's the Big Question. It was a purpose of this Thread to propose that the Priest - remembering that one idea of John was to Correct the Synoptics - was actually named as a variant of "Immar-Yah". "Behold [the] Lamb of God&quo...

Re: "Immar-Yah" => " 'Immr-ya" => "Marya"

Philippians 2:9-11 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. From thi...

Re: "Immar-Yah" => " 'Immr-ya" => "Marya"

lsayre -- 1. I'm reading your suggested article with some slow moments. The support material states that this may be a 4th century construction. That's OK but for most of the Boilerplate, the Standard Interpretations hold: There are people who existed and had the characteristics they appeared to hav...

Or, as Caligula said to Tiberius in "I, Claudius":

"People can be SOOOO disappointing."

I await a serious, orderly discussion of the Issues anytime, SA.
I even BOUGHT your book way back when.
I'm lookin'. So are you.

Re: Jesus was Famous Because He was Alleged to Have Said 'I will destroy [the temple of Jerusalem]' Before 70 CE

We do know what happened. No we don't...I am saying history was not Josephus verbatim. Josephus is a road map to a particular understanding of history which may or may not have been based on facts. He undoubtedly lied about things that Justus of Tiberius did or didn't do. He made up lots of stuff. ...

Nice response, SA. Now, Destroy the Thesis. Simple. Do it. Destroy the Thesis. I'll send you a copy of the Book if you want. Atwill sez "It's all just Literature". OK. Literature follows Form and Logic as well. Did Ptolemy carry Herod's Seal? Was Bilgah and Immer on Duty for the Passover a...

Re: Jesus was Famous Because He was Alleged to Have Said 'I will destroy [the temple of Jerusalem]' Before 70 CE

There is no historical vantage point which allows us to get a 'clear picture' of what happened before. Always branches and trees to obstruct our view of what was. Ummm...No. We do know what happened. A Coup was planned against Herod. Herod is at the palace in Jericho, having his dinky consumed by w...

Re: "Immar-Yah" => " 'Immr-ya" => "Marya"

Thank you VERY MUCH, lsayre! I tend to agree. The Inversion of Meaning here would be more easily seen with our Priest having a NAME as of old. Indeed, the importance of the "NAME of 'Jesus'", so often given in the NT, may be the Push needed to go with "Name". More later - "W...
