Re: Is it correct to talk about a Gospel legend?

Frankly, while, assuming genuine epistles, one can decide the Origins of Jesus (for example, he/she can conclude from the epistles that Jesus never existed), what he/she can't do is to find the origin of the Gospel legend.

Re: Is it correct to talk about a Gospel legend?

Indeed I should specify what I mean by "legend": a story that is born as mere hearsay, such that its origin can't be more traced precisely. Attention: This is not a generic profession of agnosticism about the historicity of Jesus, since I have made it clear that the Origin is distinctly kn...

Is it correct to talk about a Gospel legend?

If you concede that a historical Jesus existed, or, in alternative, that a mythical Jesus was adored by the early Christians ( in primis , by the apostle called Paul) by visions and revelations, then the first gospel has to be called a legend in both the cases. Is not it true? My point is that the f...

Re: Questions about Dating 1 Clement

Unfortunately not all of his books are available at archive.org. They should be, and hopefully I will be able to make up for that serious hole in their collection. It is great! I also am searching for his Historie des dogmes t. 5 , only its too much expansive cost and the historicist faith...

Re: On the Jesus's anxiety about the "hour of his death"

The paradox is that the historicist who says: "Paul and Mark have eclipsed deliberately the true historical Jesus", is going really to make a good case for marcionite priority, of which the slogan sounds quasi identical: the redeemer Christ in Mark has eclipsed deliberately the Revealer Je...

Re: On the Jesus's anxiety about the "hour of his death"

Someone (Boistier) has proposed that the first story about an earthly Jesus had in a "Jesus who preaches" the Great Event, since the marcionite Parable of Lamp makes it clear that what was obscure has now to be revealed. It is therefore expected by Judaizers a more and more focus on the &q...

Re: On the Jesus's anxiety about the "hour of his death"

In virtue of the same reason, the rival Marcionite Jesus, i.e. Jesus Son of the Unknown Father (parodied caustically as "Bar-Abbas") has to be turned away from the "hour of the his death", so that only the Jewish Christ could be revealed during the crucifixion.

On the Jesus's anxiety about the "hour of his death"

Why is Jesus restless about the precise hour of his death? It seems that the background assumption by the inventor of a such anxiety betrayes a previous concern about the precise time the crucifixion of Jesus in outer space happened. But this explanation would sound too much astrotheological/acharya...

Re: Mark's relation to Gnosticism...

Surely the anger of Jesus against Peter calling him the (Jewish) Christ is pure marcionism in Mark. To eclipse a such strong debt to Marcion, one has to add more and more highly speculative hypotheses about various concepts of Messiah, for example, by saying that Peter meant a military Messiah while...
