Re: Cold Case Christianity
Why can't 1 Peter have been written by Silvanus? The text is sort of ambiguous but if Silvanus did write what Peter dictated I don't see why Peter couldn't be the author. I'm not as knowledgeable as you guys but the letter is well attested externally. I don't care if I'm a "clown scholar" ...

Re: Cold Case Christianity
Yeah when apologists try to make their case by quoting works in the Bible regarded as forgery it's always a head-scratcher lol. I can tell I'm a lot more conservative than the other guys here so that might explain why you thought that xD. Anyways, I do think 1 Peter is probably authentic so he has g...

Re: Richard Carrier debates Craig Evans
We have plenty of proto-Catholic writers attacking "heresies" all over the place well before 380. Where is the mythcists denomination? Exactly, they don't make an appearance. Also I'd like to add that appealing to a conspiracy is never going to make a good argument.

Re: Carrier on Ehrman and Tim O'Neill
And why should we doubt those later Christians? What makes you think we should distrust this strong tradition of James the BROTHER of Jesus and bishop of Jerusalem?

Re: Richard Carrier debates Craig Evans
I am no fan of Carrier I think he is a whiny $^#& and annoying as hell, but Evans did nothing but appeal to census the whole time. This is exactly what you get when the debater(Evans) does not read his opponents work or study it at all(Carrier). I'm sure Evans thought that Carrier would be about...

Re: Paul’s Third Heaven Revisited

Re: Carrier on Ehrman and Tim O'Neill
... the 'bishop of Jerusalem' was consistently associated with as Jesus's brother ... That James was actually Jesus's brother and was a 'bishop of Jerusalem' as all extant history tells us? What evidence is there that Christianity was developed and structured enough to have bishops, & other rol...
