Re: Pseudo-clementines ignores a crucifixion of Jesus
Jesus is mentioned throughout, but I don't remember anything about the crucifixion. They aren't Pauline Christianity. Peter was the disciple of Jesus and taught that the Torah contained errors which Peter can spot, but they obey at least some of the laws. Simon Magus rejects Jesus and is the recurri...

Re: Which surviving Christian documents are oldest, according to those who date Paul's writings to the 2nd century CE?
I'd say Revelation, as there's some evidence supporting a date around the Jewish/Roman war of the first century. I tend to think that the gospels and Pauline epistles are compiled and revised from earlier sources, making them hard to date, but later than that in my opinion. Didache could be early, b...

Re: Galatians 1 & Mark 1
If euthus/eutheos is common in Mark, but its use in Galatians 1 is unusual, then wouldn't that hint that Galatians 1 draws on Mark, rather than the other way around? The verbal echo by itself doesn’t mean much. Some crazy people on this site think that Galatians could have been written after gMark....

Re: 2 Corinthians 12 - Paul's friend is Jesus, not himself
A lack of clarity on my part, I think. (I've read Apocalypse of Paul and it's a fine testimony to the text being read that way from a relatively early point, but I'm taking the text as it's own thing.) I've not been clear though. Sorry. The author writing as Paul claims that Paul had visions of the ...

2 Corinthians 12 - Paul's friend is Jesus, not himself
12 I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. 3 And I know that this man wa...

Re: Ur-John, a step by step reconstruction
I started doing this myself this week, so this is an interesting read. I rearranged the order even more than you have done, to the extent of having the Genesisesque opening, then the Samaritan woman at the well (minus the parts with the disciples). He spends two days in Sychar, then 'On the third da...

Re: Who made "the men as trees" was... ...the DEMIURGE
It says that the false Eve raped by the Archons (as such, the Eve being " in their clutches" ) is the tree, not the true Eve who saves herself from the Archons. That would mean that the Archons raped a tree. No wonder she was laughing at them. I'll give some thought to the Eden leaves ide...

Re: Who made "the men as trees" was... ...the DEMIURGE
In the Hypostasis of Archons, when the true Eve was obliged to clone herself in a false Eve in the form of a tree to make the latter "Eve" (and not the true Eve) raped by the Archons, also there the "tree" allegorizes the carnal defiled nature of a humanity fallen pray of demiur...
