Re: What to make of the Gospel of the Hebrews?

Other than the dead sea scrolls There's a lot unfortunately that's missing from early Jewish manuscripts. Even more is missing from the early Jewish Christian sects.. most of what we have was preserved by the gentile church. And a lot was lost during the burning of the library if cesseria I personal...

Re: An argument for the first gospel being written by Judaizers

Unfortunately the jewish christians and the judiasm did not preserve much. And the burning of the library of caeseria lost much also.

As jesus was jewish, it makes sense that a primary source for the gospels would include interviewing jewish christians.

Re: How much there is Saul in the epistles of Paul?

Another correlation i found in james tabor book "paul and saul" That Paul’s Hebrew name was Saul we have no reason to doubt. Paul says he is of the tribe of Benjamin, and Saul, the first king of Israel, was also a Benjaminite, so one could see why a Jewish family would choose this particul...

Re: how does the koran understand injeel and kitab?

I would like to learn more about korans origins from a historical perspective I'm curious if the author of this piece is biased. On one side his slide he says academic study of religion presumes naturalism ( no causes outside nature) however he also says it would be wrong to view koran as not a mira...

I'm curious if " the just" was a common label for Jewish religious leaders.

Two places that come to mind include:
-Simeon the Just

-1 john 2:1

Re: Did James the just have children?

Thanks.

I saw the geneology page that gyran shared

I'm curious what could be the way they could legitimize it as i don't know how ancient a source it could come from.

Did James the just have children?

Someone was telling me that he could trace his genealogy to james.

Sounded questionable, but I'm curious what he was using as his source that James had kids

Re: Robyn Walsh, The Origins of Early Christian Literature

But why do you think it says more than the synoptic gospels were written in some particular order and each knew the work of his predecessors and borrowed from them? Obviously there was an order. Whether they used common sources or each other, we don't know. How do you know differently? Or is that w...
