Re: The falsified LXX was meant to support the NT. Nomina sacra for Christ / xristos in the "OT"
Are there any nomina sacra where reading Xrhstos makes the text more intelligible than reading it as χριστὸς? In the NHL, almost always: there is an abundance of Xrhstos-ness there as well, in reference to the father or IS. But it is evident that said IS in the NT is portrayed as the Xristos, the a...

Re: Hebrew TOV and Greek XRHSTOS
Is Xrhstos always fully spelled out in the oldest MSS? Yes, it is - in the Greek. Given the nomina sacra in the Nag Hammadi Library it is highly likely that the abbreviations also said Xrhstos, as illustrated: 43:37 ϫⲁⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲭⲣⲏⲥⲧⲟⲥ Savior, our Lord the XRHSTOS 48:19 ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲭⲣⲏⲥⲧⲟⲥ IHS the XRHSTOS ...

Re: Robert Ambelain's case that Thomas was REALLY CONFUSED with Jesus himself
Pilate (and never Pontius Pilate) was present in John already, and had meaning in that context. what do you think about that possible meaning? That's a great question, and unfortunately one that I couldn't possibly answer. I'm guessing Rylands 52 to be an original John, but that's just a guess. Be ...

Re: Robert Ambelain's case that Thomas was REALLY CONFUSED with Jesus himself
It's all very easy really: Christianity was retrofitted in order to be earlier than Chrestianity. Of course there are no traces of either in the first centuries: Christianity didn't exist, and the Church destroyed all evidence of anything else I place nascent Chrestianity in the second half of first...

Re: Richard Carrier's decisive point on Justin's Trypho
So: what eye witness accounts and newspaper reports would have confirmed that Jesus was the Christ predicted in the Old Testament FOR YOU PERSONALLY? Now that is very Christian of you, Don. I am sure that you can show yourself the way out :confusedsmiley: I'm not a Christian. And it was your claim....

The exhaustive list from Sinaiticus including the odd books (excluding anything from the NT, of course). Some corrections are interesting as well: {BARN 12:10} ειδε παλιν ιϲ[n] ουχι ϋιοϲ ανου[n] αλλα υϊοϲ του θυ[n] τυπω δε εν ϲαρκι φανερωθειϲ επι ουν μελλουϲιν {ORIG:}{CORR:"cc":λεγειν} οτι...

Re: Richard Carrier's decisive point on Justin's Trypho
[A]ll of the Hebrew TOV (טוֹבָה) gets translated with Xrhstos I would have expected ἀγαθός as the standard equivalent for טוב Apparently it is καλός. Don't know where you are getting your information. Chrestos means "useful" or maybe "right." When scholars of early Judaism, who...
