Re: Thoughts on Regardie, Corrected
Thank you, Stephen. That is an entirely different interpretation, not one that I agree with, but meriting consideration. Edited as I see it: "Crowley was in England in the Thirties when Stephensen’s book was published. When was the article you have about the **Somebody Something** 'zwischen Sch...

Re: Thoughts on Scholem and Smith's "Mittel-Danj"
In a rant above emerges this question: "Where is the footnote confirming Smith's interest in Crowley?" Try Klawans footnote 49. Or, to restate, in a letter from Smith to Scholem dated November 26, 1945, Smith mentions Crowley--eight times. Morton Smith and Gershom Scholem, correspondence ...

Re: The Catamites of Flaccus?
De Vita Contemplativa says: 51.

Re: The Catamites of Tiberius?
Wiki is more authoritative than you here, unfortunately: Tiberius Julius Alexander (fl. 1st century) was an equestrian governor and general in the Roman Empire. Born into a wealthy Jewish family of Alexandria but abandoning or neglecting the Jewish religion, he rose to become the 2nd procurator of J...

Re: The Catamites of Tiberius?
Tiberius Alexander born c.14 AD and raised at Tiberius Court from 24 AD (Aged 10?) would indeed have seen things, until c.36 AD.
If T. Alexander Jr. were Philo's source, Tiberius and/or Caligula could have been the obscured targets. That late-dates Philo's Essene and Therapeut works, however.

Whoa, whoa -- easy there, chief.
Ahhh, no. Sections 40-63 are about the Greeks or Romans (its unclear exactly WHO) contrasted with the Therapeutae. IF T. Alexander (Jr.) was held as a child hostage and raised at the Imperial Royal Court (I cannot remember where I read that, sorry), it is indeed possible that this nephew detailed co...

The Catamites of Tiberius?
I've been closely examining Philo's DVC . In most translations, this startling bit is generally neutralized. It should be translated precisely, because Philo provides an extraordinarily detailed description of child sex-workers, as he saw them . That itself raises questions, but I argue this diatrib...

Gay Conversion Therapy, Brazilian Evangelical Edition
I fell down the Influencers' rabbit-hole, and from a local YouTuber, I found this emotionally-intelligent young person's video about a fairly typical 'conversion therapy' experience c.2019. It's enlightening and informative -- not inappropriate nor offensive, though obviously Gay!

Re: Freedom?
Aren't you carrying ideas of Locke, Marx or some modern philosopher into a wholly anachronistic realm, though? Your stipulation bears no relevance to the excerpt provided nor the situation there, such as it was. Personally, I would not have wanted to work in the Timna stone mines either -- but someo...

Who Built the Pyramids, again?
https://allthatsinteresting.com/who-built-the-pyramids Excavations in the 1990s into what researchers sometimes call “pyramid city” were crucial in establishing a modern understanding of not just how the pyramids were built but also by whom. Specifically, it was the discovery of large quantities of ...
