Assuming Jesus was historical, and the gospels tell the truth about Pilate's reluctance to have Jesus crucified, eventually just giving into pressure, is it possible that he would have been more willing to let Jesus' body be taken down, since he didn't think Jesus really deserved crucifixion anyway...
