Re: dating the gospels?
to hakeem, What you say does not make sense. gMatthew and gLuke claim Jesus was born of a Ghost and a Virgin and gJohn claims Jesus was the Logos. Aristides did not specify by whom Mary got inseminated. So your comment is irrelevant. And Jesus can be considered the Messiah and the logos at the same ...

Re: Buried clues about early Christianity from the context of Pliny’s letters?
to rgprice, Well Pliny had clearly never heard of them before. What Pliny never heard before is who, and how to punish Christians: I therefore do not know what offenses it is the practice to punish or investigate, and to what extent. And I have been not a little hesitant as to whether there should b...

Re: dating the gospels?
to hakeem, Aristides' Apology supposedly written in the time of Hadrian 117-138 CE mentions stories of Jesus in "the Gospel". Aristides' Apology" The Christians, then, trace the beginning of their religion from Jesus the Messiah; and he is named the Son of God Most High. And it is sai...

Re: dating the gospels?
to hakeem, About Cerinthus: Cerinthus was presented as a contemporary of John the presbyter (the author of Revelation according to my research) and dated 50-100 by Wikipedia: But a certain Cerinthus, ... supposed that Jesus was not generated from a virgin, but that he was born son of Joseph and Mary...

Re: dating the gospels?
to hakeem, You keep admitting that the Pauline writer pretended he was getting revelations from his dead and resurrected Lord Jesus. Of course, we all know he was lying about his source for stories about his Lord and Savior. Correction: Not Pauline writer, instead Paul. He was lying for sure about h...

Re: The conclusion I've reached...
to hakeem, Again, when you date the authorship of the Synoptics by failed prophecies then they must have been written no earlier than c 30 CE or within 72 hours of the prophecy that Jesus would be killed and be raised from the dead on the third day. I did not date the Synoptics by failed prophecies....

Re: “though we once acknowledged a Christ after the flesh, yet now we acknowledge such no longer.”
to Giuseppe,
Actually, you question should: be Gentile Christians in Corinth were talked about a Jewish Jesus?
That what I answered in my webpage with a YES.
Cordially, Bernard
Paul did not hide he was a Jew.Gentile Christians in Corinth who talked about a Jewish Jesus? Not even for idea.

Re: Interpreting Philippians 2:5-11
I always thought that Philippians 2:5-11 was a hymn first from Apollos of Alexandria and then "borrowed" by Paul who added to it: even death on a cross Php2:5-11 RSV Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equali...

to Charles Wilson, Acts 9: 33 - 35 (RSV): [33] There he found a man named Aene'as, who had been bedridden for eight years and was paralyzed. [34] And Peter said to him, "Aene'as, Jesus Christ heals you; rise and make your bed." And immediately he rose. [35] And all the residents of Lydda a...
