Re: Does Galatians 4 imply a pre-70 AD perspective?
I have second thought about Gal 4:27-30. It might have been in Marcion's Galatians because it fits 4:22-23 and Schmid did not say these verses were missing. If it is the case, then it looks to me the whole of Galatians in Ephrem's Peshitta was drawn out of Marcion's version. How to explain it? Cordi...

Re: Does Galatians 4 imply a pre-70 AD perspective?
The deletion of Abraham save for one reference is reflected in statements in Tertullian Yes. I knew it and already wrote about in my previous posting: What is interesting, as Tertullian wrote for Marcion's Galatians , all previous passages mentioning Abraham, according to Schmid are deleted. They a...

Re: Does Galatians 4 imply a pre-70 AD perspective?
I am not sure that "Jerusalem" existed in 4:24-26 in the text reported by Schmid. Actually, I do not think it did. What is interesting, as Tertullian wrote for Marcion's Galatians, all previous passages mentioning Abraham, according to Schmid are deleted. They are Gal 3:6-9, 3:14a, 3:15-18...

Re: Does Galatians 4 imply a pre-70 AD perspective?
For 4:26, Van Manem follows Tertullian and probably also Schmid: 26 But [the] other generates above all powers ( power, lordship, and every name that is named not only in this eon, but also in that to come), which is [the] mother of us. Tertullian, "the other gendereth" (to liberty, being ...

Re: Does Galatians 4 imply a pre-70 AD perspective?
Thanks Stephan. This is what Schmid meant for Gal 4:24 (I think, will consider corrections from you): "Which things are an allegory: for they are two covenants, the one from mount Sinai, for this is the synagogue of the Jews, according to the law, is bondage to this covenant, (which is Agar?).&...

Re: [Forgery] 2 Corinthians 11:32-33 [/Forgery]
1) The offending verses interrupt 11:30 as a direct transition to 12:1 Already addressed that: no comment from you. Just like I said nothing about it. And you think removing 11:32-33 does not cause an abrupt transition from potential boasting about Paul's weaknesses and then real boasting about vis...

Re: Does Galatians 4 imply a pre-70 AD perspective?
Schmid is a class act. He is the authority on Marcion. According to Schmid, verse Gal 4:25 would be missing in Marcion's version. http://books.google.ca/books?id=hneUeDnsA_YC&pg=PA347&dq=schmid+%22Gal+4%22&hl=en&sa=X&ei=KY1-UueuDOr7iwL4w4C4Ag&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q=schm...

Re: Does Galatians 4 imply a pre-70 AD perspective?
Yes, I found, what I think, is Ephrem's Gal 4:25 on sheet 79, apparently a translation from Syriac to Greek, but the Greek wording is the same as in the canonical letter.
Cordially, Bernard

Cordially, BernardSee also note 9.
Can anyone, and more so you Stephan, find out what Ephrem translated or commented on Galatians 4:21-27?
