All attested abbreviations derived from the www.trismegistos.org database. We limited ourselves to examples where at least two letters were missing (i.e. absences of a single letter were not counted as an abbreviation). Yeah, that could certainly be. If this is the case, two letter abbreviation being first, regarding your other thread on whether Paul originally mentioned a figure named IHCOYC (Yeshua) we need not limit ourselves to that name as with only Iota as a guide any number of other names are possible. Looking up the two passages given by the OP, in Sinaiticus, I find that the abbreviations IC and IY are being used. Does anyone know what the earliest copies of Acts 7:45 and Hebrews 4:8 are?
