Re: The meaning of ἀπεκδυσάμενος in Col 2:15
2. I am wondering about the interpretation of ἀπεκδυσάμενος. (too bad Ben Smith isn't around anymore). I see/saw Ben Smith as a servant leader. His ability to find source material was amazing and his knowledge of Greek was always to be taken seriously. I had noticed his absence and was missing him....

Re: Evidence of a John the Baptist connected (via Apollos) with the original Book of Revelation
This has implications for the Apollos in Acts who only knew John's baptism and had to be taught by Priscilla and Aquila about Paul's gospel.

Re: JAT Robinson's early dating redux
Discussed on a Facebook group named: The Apostolic Fathers and Second Century Christianity Since I believe the full New Testament was written before AD 70, I look forward to learning more. And I asked if he is including the Theophilus Proposal. Yes I saw it in that gross apologetic masquerading as ...

Re: Robyn Walsh, The Origins of Early Christian Literature
If not a belief in a historical Paul, but at least the assumption of what? Seven authentic epistles with no substantive interpolations or edits?

Re: Indisputable Historical Facts About Early Christianity
I think the info from Pliny the Younger's Letter to Emperor Trajan should fit this bill as well anything. We learn that in 110 AD there was a notable Christian presence, some of whom having been adherents for 20 years, in the Roman province of Bithynia. Christians were persecuted (though not system...

Re: If the synoptic gospels are three different translations of a common Hebrew or Aramaic source
If we go by what church writers say, Mark was written by a follower of Peter, and I assume Peter spoke Hebrew (and/or Aramaic) and needed help with Greek (as per 1 Peter 5:12, which I think is genuine, and as Josephus did), and Mark's gospel would effectively be a translation of a Hebrew or Aramaic...

Re: A Suggestion for Revising the Early Writings' Entry for Secret Mark
Very interesting. The Amish have had a very significant impact on Ohio, especially Holmes county. The College of Wooster in the town of same name in Holmes County even used to close all classrooms on Wednesdays as that was the Amish "market day" and folks from across the state would come ...
