Re: Adam's tree

I haven't lookied at your links carefully, but I don't see clear dates for when the phrase ‎ עֵץ־חַיִּ֣ים gets extra biblical significance. Probably it's important to look at the orthodox liturgy. When the Torah scroll is returned to the ark after a reading, the following phrase is recited (among ot...

Re: Adam's tree

My post is appropriate for the Jewish forum. It's none of your business where I post what. Let me make this blatantly clear for you: YOU ARE IN NO POSITION TO TELL ME WHERE MY POSTS BELONG. UNLESS YOU ARE A MOD OR THE SITE ADMIN, YOUR WORD MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING REGARDING SUCH ISSUES . Now, unles...

Could this relate to Paul saying that Christ is the visible image of God?
I think it relates to Yoshke stuff being idolatrous and belonging in the Christian forum.

Re: Adam's tree

You've made enough posts on here to know that the denizens of the Christian forum can answer these questions at least as well as anyone here. The Naassenes (Greek Naasseni, possibly from Hebrew נָחָשׁ naḥash, snake)[1] were a Christian Gnostic sect known only through the writings of Hippolytus of Ro...

Re: Was OT originally in Greek?

I always find interesting verses. Deuteronomy 29:3 "The great temptations" That was a rare complement on my part, but I also pointed out that it's difficult not to find interesting Jewish Bible verses, so the various Laws_of_thermodynamics are still intact. That is, randomly selected vers...

Re: Was OT originally in Greek?

It is certainly ironic that the Septuagint is far older than the Masoretic text. One would think that the OLDER text would have preeminence. Looked up the definition of preeminent. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/preeminent eminent above or before others; superior; surpassing What an eminently asi...

Re: Was OT originally in Greek?

My understanding is that the OT was originally written in Hebrew, but that text was from a different textual tradition from the Masoretic. The Hebrew which the Septuagint is based on is no longer available to us for some reason. It is certainly ironic that the Septuagint is far older than the Masor...
