Re: Previously Unknown Subspecies of Human Discovered in Siberia
And there it is, the obligatory snide remark that anyone who questions the so-called science of evolution (e.g. Piltdown Man) is automatically a creationists. John T, if you do not consider yourself a creationist, then you ought to give us your reasons for not being a creationist. As to Piltdown Ma...

Re: Genesis 1
Except that that is contrary to the conventional linguistic wisdom on that subject. From Genesis 1:1 (KJV) - In the beginning God created , gen1.pdf , and the sample page at The Hebrew English Phonetic Bible - the Entire Bible with the Hebrew written in phonetic English with accents! , I transcribe ...

Re: My review of Richard Carrier's "On the Historicity of Jesus"
Back to my regression analysis of the scores. Around being targeted in infancy is being the son of a god. Why aren't there any notable recent people who are sons and daughters of gods? Where did all those horny gods go? Being raised by foster parents in a distant land -- that seems rather unmotivate...

Re: My review of Richard Carrier's "On the Historicity of Jesus"
Yes, prophecies of the coming of leaders and heroes. Where are the prophecies of the coming of George Washington or Charles Darwin? To name only Honestly, I'm not sure what your point was. Here is what I mean. King Laius and Queen Jocasta learn from the Oracle of Delphi that their baby son will gro...

Re: My review of Richard Carrier's "On the Historicity of Jesus"
That's a prophecy of something in the future, and that's a separate issue. You were talking about prophecies about the past? Yes, prophecies of the coming of leaders and heroes. Where are the prophecies of the coming of George Washington or Charles Darwin? To name only two recent examples. What's r...

Re: My review of Richard Carrier's "On the Historicity of Jesus"
I have my own conclusions for the rating of gMark & gMatthew according to the Rank-Raglan scale, plus my debate with Carrier on the topic: http://historical-jesus.info/99.html Another post on Rank-Raglan, where I show the mythologization of gospel Jesus is a lot less abrupt from an existing one...

Re: My review of Richard Carrier's "On the Historicity of Jesus"
What prophecies? Far, far too many. Common as muck. Google is your friend. You could start with this book, 'When Prophecy Fails'. It is particularly interested in a 1950's US cult about UFOs and extra-terrestrials bringing the end of the world. It might be right up your street. That's a prophecy of...

Re: My review of Richard Carrier's "On the Historicity of Jesus"
Jesus Christ scores low in gMark because Mark skips over all of his early life. Without the childhood parts, the other gospels have similar scores, and some other legendary heroes have similar scores, heroes like Krishna, Theseus, Romulus, and King Arthur.
