Re: What was Paul's primary lesson he wanted people to learn
Philippians 2:8-11 (ESV) RE: Someone was awarded the name 'Jesus' post obedience leading to death on a cross. Whom that someone might be eludes me. But why bother bestowing the name 'Jesus' upon someone who was already named Jesus? And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedie...

Re: What was Paul's primary lesson he wanted people to learn
The Jews are of Hagar, and the Gentiles are of Sarah. As an aside which is not relevant to this thread, but may require a thread of its own, whomever wrote the Gospel of John expanded upon this twisted logic that is rooted in Paul. This John makes explicit within 8:44, where he places it upon the l...

Re: What was Paul's primary lesson he wanted people to learn
After this groundwork, Paul presents the argument that since God gave the promise to Abraham because of his faith alone, Moses and his 'Law' are irrelevant. And from the same argument comes Paul's conception that circumcision is of no value. Both of these also involve convoluted logic.

Re: What was Paul's primary lesson he wanted people to learn
The Jews are of Hagar, and the Gentiles are of Sarah. This must be at the very ground floor. Hint: After the application of some seriously twisted and incoherent logic meant to baffle only those who don't know better, along with those who do but for whatever reason are willing to overlook that detai...

Re: Galileo Forgery
Per Wikipedia, Hans Lippershey only gets credit for being the first to attempt getting a Patent on a Telescope (in 1608). And per Britannica, his Patent application was denied because several others came forward and claimed to be first. So the bottom line is that no one knows exactly who was first. ...

Re: Possible the original Pauline letters never mentioned Jesus?
In Vedic and Avestan like circles 'Marya' means "man" or "man of war" (warrior). I see a potential link to Stephan Huller's line of reasoning here...

Re: Possible the original Pauline letters never mentioned Jesus?
If Paul dates to the 50's, then whatever religion Paul was "actually" promoting likely had by that time already experienced at least 100 or more years in which to evolve. Religions don't likely begin at a fully advanced end-game level, but rather they would seemingly be more likely to expe...

Re: Possible the original Pauline letters never mentioned Jesus?
Verses 1 through 3 appear to be an editorial preamble. Any real message may have began with verse 4 (or perhaps more originally at verse 10). But can anyone realistically imagine gobbledygook such as this being red before a Church body of perhaps 85-95% illiterates? Does this sound like an early pro...
