Re: james eusebius and alexandria

Hegesippus (whom we know Clement read) How do we know that Clement read Hegesippus? I'm not so much interested in controverting this conclusion as I am in knowing what it's based on. Clement according to Eusebius "The Lord after his resurrection imparted knowledge to James the Just and to John...

Re: james eusebius and alexandria

Hegesippus? Hegesippus seems to have dated the death of James later, just before the Jewish War. Re: james eusebius and alexandria

In Jerome's version of Eusebius' Chronicle we have for the seventh year of Nero i.e. 61 CE Albinus succeeds Festus in the magistracy of Judaea. James, the brother of the Lord, whom everyone used to call the Just, is stoned to death by the Jews. Simeon, also called Simon, is the second to be placed ...

Re: Identification of Jesus as "Messiah" reaction to Bar Kokhba?

Romans 9 1 I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— 2 that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers,[a] my kinsmen according to...
