Re: Dating of Hebrews after the 70 CE?
I think it is just the opposite. The high priest is still conducting sin offerings at the tabernacle therefore, the temple is still standing. If he's making sacrifices in a tabernacle (tent) then its because the temple is not standing. Did the priests after the first war put a tent on the ruins of ...

Re: Claude Bertin on the Christian Origins
Or maybe Jesus is Jesus the son of Sirach. After all, the Didache attributes the saying from Sirach 12 to Jesus, in paraphrased form, "let your alms sweat in your hand until you know who to give them to", rather than the "lend to everyone who asks" we expect from the gospels. (I ...

Re: 101-150 AD works on Christianity listed by theme
I see that there are a huge volume of gnostic writings from 100-150 AD. What do you think the value would be in me studying them? I can think that they may include some real stories about the apostles that didn't make it into the canonical gospels. But I am skeptical of how much that would happen. ...

Re: Jesus and Joshua.
Jupiter = Jove-Pater Jupiter = yahweh-father Simply because jove is yahweh. It makes a good Gnostic argument. The worship of yahweh is in fact quite gnostic, even with a mask or veneer of Christianity. I've been in prayer rooms where yahweh was being fervently worshiped (toda, yahweh, ohh, yahweh)....

Re: The Marcionite Gospel Beginning Did Not Mention '15th ye
You just said Acts of Pilate. You didn't say an antichristian Acts of Pilate known only by an allusion in Eusebius. Make your case already and quit hiding it like a coward. I did not mention the Acts of Pilate in this thread. Josephus contradicts that year as does the Acts of Pilate. Page 2. So now...

Re: The Marcionite Gospel Beginning Did Not Mention '15th ye
Again I don't know why you are so intent on derailing the discussion but just in the same way as you were 'certain' that Origen was Adamantius now you are certain that Nicodemus is the Acts of Pilate. IT IS NOT THE SAME TEXT AS EUSEBIUS KNEW. Eusebius's text was anti-Christian. This one is not. You...

Re: Laurence & Shirley Dalton's Jesus Never Lived!
I find this implausible to the extreme. Marcionism isn't supersessionism. This thesis requires Huller-like revisionism of what Marcionism was in order to work.

Re: The Marcionite Gospel Beginning Did Not Mention '15th ye
That isn't at stake here. But isn't it though? Remember in the Marcionite gospel there is only a one year or not quite one year ministry, so the year of Jesus' descent is also the year of his crucifixion. You've said that the Acts of Pilate precludes this, but it actually supports this. http://www....

Re: The Marcionite Gospel Beginning Did Not Mention '15th ye
Since you don't really care about citations and whether they are exact or loose, why don't you just go ahead and explain your theory that Josephus and the Acts of Pilate somehow preclude Marcion's gospel from mentioning the 15th.
