Re: The Marcionite Gospel Beginning Did Not Mention '15th ye
The gospel mentions Tiberius so the words are there, even though he didn't quote verbatim and mention the 15th year. But the structure of the citation is odd 'because contained in the gospel that: in Tiberius (Caesar) ...' sounds like a direct citation not a reference to what is generally said in t...

Re: The Marcionite Gospel Beginning Did Not Mention '15th ye
And how do you get around περιέχει in what precedes the citation? Καθὼς περιέχει τὸ εὐαγγέλιον ὅτι The words that follow are 'contained' in 'the gospel.' It's very specific. Hard to argue this is a loose reference. The gospel mentions Tiberius so the words are there, even though he didn't quote ver...

Re: The Marcionite Gospel Beginning Did Not Mention '15th ye
And it is strange that for a 'loose citation' it is repeated elsewhere: Καθὼς περιέχει τὸ εὐαγγέλιον ὅτι ἐπὶ Τιβερίου Καίσαρος, ἐπὶ τῶν χρόνων Πιλάτου Clement Stromata 1:26 ἐπὶ Τιβερίου Καίσαρος Its not a loose citation because its not a citation. And of course Origen repeats it because its his for...

Re: The Marcionite Gospel Beginning Did Not Mention '15th ye
When Origen has his character ask the Marcionite Why are you so certain that Origen = Adamantius? "Origen" is a placeholder for whoever wrote the text. The author doesn't so much matter as the style and presentation, which show this is not an accurate transcript of a real debate. If the d...

Re: The Marcionite Gospel Beginning Did Not Mention '15th ye
Epiphanius does not have the Marcionite canon in front of him. Whether he does or doesn't, and whether Tertullian does or doesn't is not so certain, but that Origen does not while writing the fictional dialogue in question is absolutely certain. And if it were a real dialogue, its a certainty the d...

Re: What makes a writing "Fiction" versus "History"?
It was a big mistake for Hindley to bring up Trump, because we know he exists. Osama Bin Laden might have been a better example, since its at least a possibility he was only Obama in a mask. The historical fiction of going psycho accusing one's opponents of complete fabrications like gassing unicorn...

Where's the option for "There was a Historical Jesus who is identical with the Christ of Faith of one of the heretical sects"?

Re: Jesus and Joshua.
I noticed Gordon's Jupiter argument through you recently on the forum and I'm still getting acquainted with it but it seems very interesting so far. Yep, the only difficulty is that it is sort of hidden here and there. The best talk is behind a pay walll, but I think you can just make a super-modes...

Re: Gematria and Daniel 7:25 (Second Attempt)
The fact that the resurrection DOES NOT take place after three days in the gospel should have alerted people to there being another solution to the reference. The solution to this is real simple. The number of days between the death and resurrection had no significance in the original (Marcionite) ...

Re: The Marcionite Gospel Beginning Did Not Mention '15th ye
I don't think this is conclusive as to whether it mentioned the 15th or not. But if it didn't, then what?
