Re: Why I don't see myself as a Christ Mythicist
.... In Ant. 20.20 (written around 90 CE), Jesus called Christ was known then, not because he was important in his lifetime, but because he was credited to have started a new religion which was then prospering. You still contradict yourself. You use gMark which states that thousands of people follo...

Re: Why I don't see myself as a Christ Mythicist
to MrMacSon, Were there 1st century CE Christians? Yes. If you don't want to accept the normal critical dating of many Christian texts (the ones normally dated 1st century), then there are the testimonies of Tacitus (during Nero), Suetonius (during Nero) and Pliny the Younger: "Others named by...

Re: Why I don't see myself as a Christ Mythicist
Knowing about him is not very important, because Jesus was not important in his lifetime. You have contradicted yourself. You argue that the Jesus called Christ in Antiquities of the Jews 20 is the same Jesus in the NT but now you argue he was not important in his lifetime. Jesus if he did exist an...

Re: Larry Hurtado vs Neil Godfrey
The claim that a Pauline writer met the James Lord's brother is not evidence that the Lord and James were figures of history. The Lord denied James was his brother in the Apocalypse of James. The Apocalypse of James It is the Lord who spoke with me: "See now the completion of my redemption. I h...

Re: Larry Hurtado vs Neil Godfrey
Larry Hurtado's opening argument is just a compilation of logical fallacies. The claim that virtually every Scholars agree that Jesus existed is not evidence of his existence.
There is no historical or archaelogical evidence for a human Jesus anywhere--- only logical fallacies.

hakeem wrote: Mark 16.6-7 does not confirm that Jesus resurrected. The supposed women followers of Jesus did not see his body at the tomb. I think Jesus' resurrection is confirmed by Mk. 16:6-7, since it says, "He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him," and the fact...

Re: On the Hurtado's answer to my question
Christian writers admitted their Jesus was born of a Holy Ghost and a Virgin, the Lord from heaven, God Creator, the first born of the dead. Jesus was a non-historical being---Fake News. 1. Ignatius---Jesus was born of a Holy Ghost and a Virgin. 2. Aristides--Jesus was God from heaven who lived in a...

Re: Was Jesus a false prophet?
Regarding the second assertion, I suppose it's debatable whether the resurrection was "spiritual" or physical in early Christianity. Paul at least thinks it is "spiritual" in 1 Cor. 15:35-44: But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?”...

Re: Was Jesus a false prophet?
....And I think this is why Jesus was a false prophet (at least from the perspective of the Torah), because he made this prediction that "you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven" (echoed in Mk. 9:1: "And he said to them, &qu...
