Re: Carrier on "gnosticism"
All of this is irrelevant because I never said elsewise. What I am against is YOUR misrepresentation and abuse of Hoffmann, Jackson, Celsus, and petty much everyone, to front your agenda that the Marcionites hated YHWH and as a consequence were thoroughly anti-Judaism. Marcion lowered YHWH's positio...

Re: May I ask you a rudimentary question?
Basically, Paul catches Cephas eating unkosher meals with the gentiles, but when James, a Jew, comes around he sits and eats with them, all the while teaching gentiles to be more like the Jews. Paul sees this as a betrayal to both parties and accosts Cephas for this.

Re: May I ask you a rudimentary question?
Paul is speaking to Cephas, not "Geba", and he's dressing him down for his hypocrisy. But when Cephas came to Antioch, I resisted him to the face, because he stood condemned. For before that certain came from James, he ate with the Gentiles; but when they came, he drew back and separated h...

Re: Carrier on "gnosticism"
Your signature is disturbing, in comparison to my signature. Deal with it. Celsus, according to... And you're done. We don't need the authority of someone else to understand something that is available to anyone interested. Not only that, the contention was never that Celsus did not know of Marcion...

Re: Carrier on "gnosticism"
my point is simply that you disturb and insult continually me (yes, it's a disturb by a not polite person ) but not prof Hoffmann with equal obsession , despite of the fact that I share totally Hoffmann's views on Marcion. Don't act like you have some claim to the moral high ground here Giuseppe. M...

Re: Carrier on "gnosticism"
Well I am not talking about what Marcion believed but what Celsus believed that Marcion believed. No. This is what you believe what Celsus believed that Marcion believed. The only thing that we can hope to extrapolate from what we have of Celsus is precisely what Jusin said: 1) Marcion believed in ...

Re: Carrier on "gnosticism"
no, there Celsus mentions Marcion just in the same point where he describes Christians who "insist that there is another god higher than the creator-god and opposed to him" . It is hardly a coincidence, sorry. I never said it was otherwise you cretinous ffffffffuck. In fact, I said it was...

Re: Carrier on "gnosticism"
I'm done. I'm seeing Tenet tomorrow and the last thing I want to think about is Giuseppe's idiotic posts.
Goodnight everyone.

Re: Carrier on "gnosticism"
Celsus names Marcion also here: The point is, of course, that this Jesus is hardly the only angelic being reckoned to have visited mankind; even before his time there are those who were sent by the creator, though some among the Christians- Marcion and his disciple Apelles for example think that th...
