Re: The syncretistic origins of Christianity.
Personally, I think that seems fairly uncontroversial.

Re: My review of Richard Carrier's "On the Historicity of Jesus"
Added to which carrier gets a higher score for Jesus than others do. Individual characteristics are arguably shoehorned to fit. It is also apparently not difficult to give Jesus a low score, as low as 9, as McGrath says he does. One may argue this is too low, but the point is that it is a matter of ...

Re: The syncretistic origins of Christianity.
But I'm not after references to other communities ie. recipients of letters. I'd expect accounts of communities the letters come from. We are all familiar with the opinion, 'If Jesus existed, I'd expect more mention of him', or the general, 'if (something) was the case, I'd expect more mention of x...

Re: The syncretistic origins of Christianity.
I'm not aware of many church fathers recounting their local communities; of recounting positive community engagement with the texts or the theology by others. All we seem to get is negative accounts; say, of persecutions. Surely there are also many agreeable letters to and from communities, in whic...

Re: The Woman with the Alabaster Jar: Some questions about the Bethany/Anointing narratives in the Gospels.
I have a theory. On his first visit to the big smoke, Jesus went to a prossie for a 'massage' and the gospel writers covered up this embarrassing incident by making it all symbolic.
