Re: Platonism in the NHL
What a researcher would do, is to start with a definition of Platonism, far and wide, based on named texts from Plato. Then turn that into bullets, preferably a top 5-10, and weigh them. Then go by a text of the NHL, define it, analyse it, and list its main content, theme and thought. Bulletise tha...

Re: freshly forged fake saying of Jesus
Anyway, getting back to reality, is there any database(s) that are just transcripts of the original uncial texts, without spacing out the individual Greek words, that a language model like Dolly 2.0 with a understanding of ancient Greek could work in isolation with? I feel that this would be an int...

Re: The Diatessaron Knows the Marcionite Gospel?
The flaw with logia theories, of which your Thomas is one, is that it requires a purpose for a collection of sayings and its circulation. Where did it come from? What assumptions does it make of the reader? It doesn't take much investigating down these avenues blows wide gaping holes in the concept...

Re: Proposition: There are Three Major Classes of Christian Literature
Pete, can you explain why Justin would consider himself among Chrestians in First Apology? How does that fit in with your theory?

Re: Platonism in the NHL
Really. You manage to make one single connection - by proxy - between Yaldaboath and a character from Plato's Timaeus, don't spend a single sentence on it, and claim: "Look! Platonism!!!" You find the word in a so-called Sethian text, I hope, yet without referring to one. Then, on the basi...

Re: After 20 Years Plus of Flogging His Theory How Many Here at the Forum Believe Mountainman?
Platonism is plastered throughout the Nag Hammadi Library. The question is which form of Platonism --- middle Platonism or neo-Platonism? Second century or fourth century? See, this is where you resort to your usual stick: throwing a completely unsubstantiated claim at the table, only to immediatel...

Re: The Diatessaron Knows the Marcionite Gospel?
You should read up more on the Synoptic theory. There are literally dozens of proposed models, although only three or four get any airplay. Over the last two hundred fifty years a number of people who have proposed various prototypes. Even your theory (basically a logia model) falls into a category...

Re: "Peter and James and John" textual variant of Gal 2:5 as "harmonization"
(BSB) [Andrew] brought him to Jesus, [who] looked at him [and] said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which is translated as Peter) . [/box]...
