Re: SACT: Matthew wrote Luke to support his own story
Whether such a pun works in the Coptic I cannot say. But that is not how the cognate accusative works in Greek. Leviticus 23.32: σαββατιεῖτε τὰ σάββατα ὑμῶν = "keep your Sabbaths." Justin Martyr, Dialogue 12.3: καὶ σεσαββάτικε τὰ τρυφερὰ καὶ ἀληθινὰ σάββατα τοῦ θεοῦ = "and has kept t...

Ben, just a question. You likely have a pointer to more of this, where Luke and Matthew disagree against Mark? Would be lovely to get a handful, especially the minor ones such as these: both disagree with Mark, yet also have a minor disagreement between the two themselves. I'm risking to be wrong w...

Re: A sample of (one of) my issue(s) with the synoptic problem.
According to my Merk critical NT (which is based on Von Soden and not always reliable), there is versional evidence (Old Latin Old Syriac and Armenian) for omitting ὕστερον in Luke 20:32. Possibly original Luke left out Mark's ἔσχατον and a later copyist added ὕστερον from Matthew. Andrew Criddle B...

31 Ἄλλην παραβολὴν παρέθηκεν αὐτοῖς λέγων· ὁμοία ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν κόκκῳ σινάπεως, ὃν λαβὼν ἄνθρωπος ἔσπειρεν ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ αὐτοῦ· 31 He put another parable before them, saying, “ The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. Re: Minor agreements against gMark
[That is useless to me. I can speculate all kinds of things to solve the problems we are discussing. In fact, I already did: maybe Luke knew, not Josephus, but rather Justus. But they don't fit Bernard's agenda Ben. Only those kinds of speculation are acceptable and need not be explained You may co...

Re: SACT: Matthew wrote Luke to support his own story
So now you have that, what's your verdict Bernard?Bernard Muller wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 12:10 pm to mlinssen and Ben and Greek experts,
Strange translation. I would like to know about Ben's take about it (or/and from other Greek experts on this forum).
Cordially, Bernard
Still "strange translation"?

Bernard, and anyone else, can check the Coptic for themselves now, extremely easily, with my translation in hand All it takes is just a few clicks, and some understanding of language https://www.academia.edu/42110001/Interactive_Coptic_English_Thomas_translation Yet the apostrophe should be clear t...

Re: Why was Thomas not labelled as Q?
yep mlinssen the content of Thomas found in the synoptics also lines up with John's statement that Jesus has "the words of life" and is 'the word' it no surprise to see his reported sayings as salvific. it makes sense. But that apparently clashes with the theological basis of a preacher h...

Re: Late dating of Mark: How far would you go? And what are your arguments?
. . The starting point of my question is the dating probably prevailing among scholars, namely to the years 69/70 . --> What would be a likely late date or a late terminus ad quem ? How far would you seriously go? --> And what are your arguments ? (Can you give another argument if your main argumen...
