Re: The Pauline Gospel was a Late Invention

Origen does not support any mythicist claims in any way, shape or form... Your statement is wholly in error. Origen's Jesus was a myth--the son of god born of a Ghost and a Virgin. When Celsus argued for an historical Jesus Origen claimed Celsus was a Liar and that Jesus was born of a Holy Ghost an...

Re: The Dating, Authorship, and Meaning of the Pauline Epist

...Thus, a two 'Paul' solution, an early 'Paul', and a late 'Paul', would go a long way to accommodate/reconcile the various pre and post 70 c.e. arguments. There is SAUL and multiple PAULS in the Canon. There are multiple authors of the Pauline Corpus. At least four authors are late. Which Paul is...

Re: The Pauline Gospel was a Late Invention

What is this obsession with limiting the possibilities of 'how Christianity developed' to known historical commodities? First avi and company were certain that Constantine was responsible for everything. Now the same crazy theory is applied to Origen even though Origen clearly cites earlier witness...

Re: evidence for Christianity before the third Roman Jewish

You might be aware that Epictetus mentions Christians from around 110 A.D. You may not be aware, hanery, that I am not aware of very much at all, but I am especially uninformed regarding Epictetus. The best information about him, that I have been able to uncover, suggests, contrarily that he wrote ...

Re: The Pauline Gospel was a Late Invention

Origen has admitted that the Fourteen Epistles--the Pauline Corpus and the Epistle to the Hebrews were composed after the Gospels, after Acts of the Apostles, the Epistles of Peter, James, John, Jude and the Apocalypse of John. Can you explain to those who do not know the answer (i.e. maybe only me...

Re: evidence for Christianity before the third Roman Jewish

Acts of the Apostles is an extremely significant book based on the fact that it is Canonised and is found in virtually all Codices that have been recovered with a New Testament. Once Acts is examined it is observed that the author claims that Jesus had already ascended in a cloud BEFORE there were p...

Re: The Pauline Gospel was a Late Invention

In the NT Canon itself the Pauline Corpus is placed AFTER the Gospels and there is no known NT Codices where any Pauline letter is found before gMatthew and No Apologetic writer have placed the Pauline Corpus first. Now, in a writing attributed to Origen, it will be claimed that the Pauline 14 Epist...

Re: Historicity of Jesus - the Talking Points

You can't expect conversation partners when you don't understand what you read and don't make a coherent argument. I don't know of any one who asks agnostics for a second opinion. Agnostics by definition have a hard time understanding the evidence or don't know what to do with it. 1. I understand t...

Re: Historicity of Jesus - the Talking Points

Bernard may have assumed you were a faithful Doherty-following mythicist because you have not clearly stated your position. In order to avoid the confusion I would like to know what exactly is your opinion on the matter. [Great, then... (BTW, it's because I don't have a position on whether or not J...

Re: Historicity of Jesus - the Talking Points

I don't know what Origen was really thinking. But one guess is that he was thinking that Paul didn't acknowledge his writings as scripture; that he knows that the evaluation of the post-Septuagint Christian texts as scripture ("new scripture") is not as ancient as the apostle Paul's state...
