Re: If in Antiquities, why not in War, also?

You didn't notice that it's the following paragraph, ... I don't understand, what paragraphs and why should I notice them? ... nor that the material deals with the upshot of Daniel's interpretation of the dream, you know Neb's relatives' envy due to Daniel's kudos for interpreting the dream. I noti...

Re: If in Antiquities, why not in War, also?

The OP: If Eusebius interpolated Jesus into Antiquities, why not also into War? This was a finishing expedition. Given that StephenGoranson doesn't believe as became clear in this thread that the TF is an interpolation (just merely reworked by Christian scribes), he wants you to believe that Eusebiu...

Re: If in Antiquities, why not in War, also?

Louis Harry Feldman, in the Loeb edition: "The most probable view seems to be that our text represents substantially what Josephus wrote, but that some alterations have been made by a Christian interpolator." This may be hard for you to understand, but Feldman rejected the TF in the artic...

Re: If in Antiquities, why not in War, also?

Josephus, The Jewish Antiquities , 10.10.5-6 ... When Nabuchodonosor heard this and recalled his dream , he was astounded at the wisdom of Daniel and fell to his knees, and greeted him as men worship God. 212 He had sacrifice offered to him as though he were a god, and named him after his own god, ...

Re: If in Antiquities, why not in War, also?

I see you're continuing with your no content responses. (And I do appreciate the irony of you talking about sketchy!) But knock yourself out finding examples of ἑτέρος that lack the cohesion that your position necessitates. Here are the other exemplars in AJ 18 in: 18:44 18:169 18:171 18:178 18:180 ...

Re: If in Antiquities, why not in War, also?

I take it that you have no response to the necessity for cohesion implicit in anaphoric references. So be it. You will not accept the nonsensical nature of your original post's gambit which asked for something that cannot be meaningfully given (nor answered by you even), nor will you accept that lan...

Re: If in Antiquities, why not in War, also?

As it seems clear that you are having difficulties, perhaps you can dig yourself out of this hole by showing where ἑτέρος is separated from what it refers back to by an intervening, non-related passage. (I can happily show you several examples where this is not the case.)

Re: If in Antiquities, why not in War, also?

Josephus is not known for exquisite Greek style. A mere claim--not a demonstration--that mention of Jesus there was not possible in Antiquities of Josephus is extraordinarily weak, especially if one making such claim ignores the generally-accepted fact that Josephus needed help with his Greek compo...

Re: If in Antiquities, why not in War, also?

Just to make you happy: First, let me put aside the question of whether or not my OP title was vague or inappropriate or indelicate or hurt any feelings or was a breech of list decorum. This is euphemistically referred to as "rhetorical waffle". And, nevermind that War was not only availab...
