Re: Ethnarch of King Aretas? the legendary Damascus basket c

Now explain the phenomen. Did someone leave out the cover letter, but copied the doxology, and then realizing the issue, stuck it on the end?? Did the scribe decide off his own bat that the doxology went better at the end of ch.15?? I do not know. Christ, Bernard, you're just going to leave it ther...

Re: Ethnarch of King Aretas? the legendary Damascus basket c

Check the location of the doxology in P.46. I knew already about the erratic locations and sometimes absences of Romans 16:25-27 in ancient manuscripts. Furthermore the wording & style are unlike Paul's and "the preaching of Jesus Christ" seems to indicate a knowledge of the gospels. ...

Yes, but I have plenty of doubts for 16:25-27.
Check the location of the doxology in P.46.

Textual Criticism of Romans 16

Bernard Muller wrote:I do not think a city (Corinth) fully destroyed by the Romans, mostly in ruins since that time and not yet founded again would have an "oikonomos" of the city (Romans 16:23).
But then, I guess you think Rom 16 is original.

Re: Ethnarch of King Aretas? the legendary Damascus basket c

Corinth (an important site of Paul's activities) was deserted in the 1st century BCE until being refounded in 44 BCE. Saying that it was deserted is not accurate. It ceased to be "a significant urban center". * * The Corinth of Paul's letters appears to have been an urban center, (With fe...

Re: Ethnarch of King Aretas? the legendary Damascus basket c

[talking to spin] since it is 'most likely' that the Aretas in 2 Cor is Aretas III, the passage 'most likely' cannot have been authentic to Paul, since Paul didn't live at that time? I'm kind of curious to know how we know the letter-writer Paul didn't live in the first century BC (before 63 BC). F...

Re: The Dead Sea Scrolls Deception (full text)

The scholars who handled the scrolls initially were from the old days. They didn't answer to anyone. They saw themselves as an elite group and they didn't care about the rest of us. That's all. It's a bit more than that. They were also timid and slow. And they had the spectacle of the nitwit theori...

Re: Ethnarch of King Aretas? the legendary Damascus basket c

Nah. I know these arguments aren't very convincing to the old men who frequent this forum but the sudden introduction of biographical information is suspicious. Thing is, it's not sudden if you take it as a specific illustration of the sort of hardship our poor apostle has had to suffer for his fai...

Re: Ethnarch of King Aretas? the legendary Damascus basket c

I don't know why everyone is so afraid to speak about 'interpolation.' I think it is more embarrassing to argue for an immaculate text moving through time like the onyx monolith in 2001. Woah there, boy. I'm happy to talk about interpolations when I think there is good textual evidence for them. No...
